Before Jacob "Jake" Reinhold's transformation into the cold, manipulating power mad, rogue known as Doctor Freon, Jake was a normal, cold, manipulating, power mad scientist at Omega Corp. He had been the companies lead scientist and golden boy for many years and had pioneered all of the advancements in kinetic energy research in the last six years. That was until upstart intern, Ron Jackson came along. Ron was a fresh graduate from the University of Colorado at Boulder and had developed several theories and advancements of his own in the studies of kinetic energy, quantum physics and teleportation as related to superhuman abilities.

The animosity was immediately evident between the two of them but there wasn't much time for sparring because as soon as Ron signed on with Omega Corp they threw him and Jake both into the same development team in charge of creating a working teleporter for the government. But even with them working together Ron still outshined Jake. Jake realized that if the teleporter were to be finished Ron would rightfully take most of the credit for himself and he would be pushed back out of the limelight. Jake was not about to let that happen.

One night while Ron was working alone in the lab he appeared to have finally gotten the last bit of work done. Excited but dead tired he went to grab a cup of coffee to perk him up before trying out the machine. But as soon as he left, Jake entered the lab. Jake knew that Ron was onto something and was going to finish the project without him. So Jake decided to sabotage the project. He set the machine on the highest setting and then ran to hide. When Ron returned from his break he stepped into the machine and turned it on.

The machine managed to deconstruct his atoms but it malfunctioned just as his atoms were recombinating. The machine exploded leaving the lab in ruins and Ron in a coma. Ron awoke a few weeks later to find that he had been fired due to his being in the lab after hours without authorization and the destruction of the lab, but a few weeks later while jogging however he would discover that the faster than light kinetic speed energy that permeated his body had given him super speed. What he didn't know is what became of Jacob Reinhold.

Jake had also been fired from Omega Corp for sabotaging Ron and like any nut job he blamed his termination not on himself for being a jealous jerk but on Ron for "driving him" to do what he did. He hated Ron and he would do anything to ruin his life like he had apparently ruined his. To that end Jake started stalking Ron relentlessly. Following him from place to place and watching his home and job. Unfortunately for Ron, Jake was on hand to witness Ron's first burst of incalculable speed. That was when Jake had had it. Ron had developed super powers from the horrible accident meant to kill him and Jake had gotten nothing. Jake was not going to let that fly. So Jake went to his private lab and started working.

Having witnessed Ron's powers in action and knowing the catalyst, Jake got to work developing a device that would duplicate the accident and grant himself Ron's speed. He knew that the experiment would be far to risky to try and duplicate but he didn't care. He rebuilt the teleporter to the best of his abilities, set the device on high and then step into it. The machine began deconstructing his atoms but instead of the machine exploding in a burst of kinetic energy washing over him the explosion sent him pinballing across the room in energy form and into a cabinet of chemicals nearby. He was splashed with several different chemicals including heliopolysulficate and restifreeze. The chemicals mixed with the oxygen in the air washed over his molecules as they slowly began to reform. Jake awoke a few hours later in a room full of ice. The experiment had given him the ability to freeze anything due to the reaction of the chemicals with his kinetically charged body.  The only catch was that he could not control it and whatever he touched froze completely. He now had to create something to counteract his accident but without being able to touch anything he was doomed. That is until he contacted a former coworker and mistress of his.

Linda Ratcliffe who would later come to be known as Permafrost helped Jake construct the suit of armor that would regulate his cold energy and allow him to touch things again and move about normally. It was a temporary fix until Jake could find a more permanent solution. He began to immediately work on a way to fix his condition when he remembered why he was this way in the first place. He was this way because of Ron Jackson aka The Blaque Stallion and he was going to make the Stallion pay.

Jake dubbed himself Doctor Freon and attempted to take down the Ebon-Clad speedster many times to no avail. Oh he got close. Probably closer than any of his other rogues but he never got a chance to finally do him in. In fact Freon was responsible for accidentally creating Blaque Stallion's sidekick Kid Colt. Later when Ron "died" as a result of alien invaders rather than his own actions Jake felt an emptiness unlike any other he had felt before. So instead of trying to kill The Stallion he finally dedicated himself went to trying to cure himself yet again.

But not wanting to mutate further he invited Linda over and staged an accident that transformed her into the female version of himself. He then used several "cures" on her to try and reverse the process but all he managed to do was make her crazier and even more attached to him. Jake was failing again and when Blaque Stallion returned with a new hero under the cowl, Freon abandoned his fruitless search for a cure to try and destroy this pretender.

Doctor Freon has now completely abandoned his other side and completely become Freon. He and his lab partner/assistant Permafrost are now constantly looking for ways to destroy this new Stallion.

Metahuman Powers: Jake accidentally gave himself an uncontrollable form of cryokinesis. Without his armor he freezes anything that he touches. His suit allows him to manipulate his cold powers and create ice sculptures, constructs, intense blasts, and bridges for travelling.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: Jake is a brilliant scientist.

Special Limitations: Irrational hatred of Blaque Stallion and Ron Jackson causes him to work constantly on trying to destroy him rather than cure himself.

Everett is easily one of the more powerful rogues and he doesn't even know it. Of course Ev was hardly the smartest guy around before he was involved in the accident that would turn him into essentially a living gargoyle. Everett Miles and his buddies were always out for the easy buck. From armed robbery, to drug dealing, Ev and his gang "Concrete" were involved in pretty much everything. Whatever they did however either landed them in jail or gave them so little money the operation wasn't even worth it. Then one day Ev had a plan to rob a crack house. Easy buck right? Of course no buck ever comes that easy. Especially when the crack house is under the protection of Joe Luciano. Ev's friends were lucky. They were beaten horribly and thrown over a bridge with blocks of concrete attached to them. But Joe had something special in mind for the massive Ev. In exhange for his life Luciano offered to give Ev power beyond his wildest dreams. Ev figured anything could be better than what happened to his buddies and the next thing you know he's a living gargoyle charged with the task of protecting the crack houses and offering "protection" to the businesses on the upper east part of North River City. Lucky him right? Due to his new powers he was given the name Everest, The Man Mountain.

Of course he has complete control over his stone body and every pebble in it so this makes him quite dangerous. Joe "Lucky" Luciano was the crime boss of North River City until his son, Jack Luciano rose up using the speed powers he gained from experiments funded by Joe and took his empire. Joe was blown up by his son and is believed to be dead by the world at large. But anyone who really knows Joe knows that he has more lives than a cat and manages to slink out of those kinds of situations all the time. This dates back to when Joe was growing up in North River. Growing up Joe was the oldest of the Luciano children. His mom was a single mother working days as a nurse and nights as an exotic dancer, leaving Joe to take care of the kids when she was gone. With his mother often gone for days Joe and his brothers didn't have money for days. So he did what he had to do and joined the local gang to get money for his family from pulling jobs. Although he was reluctant to join the gang initally he found that he was quite good at it and quickly rose in the ranks. Soon he was gang leader and answering only to the top crime boss in North River City, Johnny Siegel. Soon after that he became a top Lieutenant and second in command under Johnny Siegel and left his younger brother Jamie in charge of the old gang. Of course seeing a chance to take over he set up Johnny Siegel to be arrested and he took over completely. Thus began the reign of Lucky Luciano. Whereas Siegel was content to just keep numbers operations and gambling going Lucky saw great opportunity in drugs. He flooded the streets of North River with them and that is when a once great city took a turn for the worst. That is also when school teacher Ron Jackson took notice. He saw teenagers coming to school strung out, and gang violence tearing the school apart. This was when he decided to finally use the super powers he had recieved months earlier to end this. So began the epic battles with Lucky Luciano and the Blaque Stallion. Lucky would create super solider after super soldier in an attempt to take down the Stallion and Stallion would take down each and every one until Lucky's last attempt to create a super soldier backfired on him when his son, Jack gained super speed powers and nearly succeeded in killing Joe. Joe is now rebuilding his army and waiting for the perfect time to strike back at his son and regain his empire.

Tommy Wentworth was the one time best friend of Nigel Douglas Jr aka Zero Effect. The day they stopped being pals was the day Nigel's mutant ability of cryokinesis manisfested. After being attacked by some high school kids, Nigel accidentally froze a pool with a about thirty kids in it including Tommy. Horrified Nigel turned himself in to be beaten by the townspeople until Black-Ice came to his rescue and he got his life back on track. Tommy however was not as dead as Nigel believed. Tommy's father was a brilliant scientist who found a way to stave off the effects of hypothermia by experimenting with Tommy's blood and a new drug he developed for treating hypothermia called Thermex. The drug saved Tommy's life buy a side effect of the drug made him highly unstable and gave him the power of pyrokinesis. Mentally unhinged Tommy used these abilities to commit several crimes until finally his father had had enough and called in the authorities on him. After a stand off with the police in with Tommy injured and burned several of them, Blaque Stallion III and Zero Effect showed up. After a lengthy battle Blaque Stallion was taken out of the by being caught in a tar trap Tommy had created by melting the road. So it was down to Zero Effect and Tommy. Zero and Tommy traded Ice and Flames back and forth until Zero finally got through to him by showing him that he had no intention of hurting Tommy. Tommy gave himself up and was incarcerated in a metahuman detention facility. Unfortunately Tommy's psychosis proved to be too much for him even with therapy and medication and he escaped from the facility. Now he looks for revenge on both Blaque Stallion and Zero Effect.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: Slow Burn can manipulate and generate flame of various intensities. Slow Burn can direct fire as a blast of superheated plasma or manipulate it into various shapes and effects such as a flame sword (which he frequently uses) or an actual rain of fire. Slow Burn can also use his flame to fly.

Nicknamed Tripwire because of his amazing skill in using booby traps, Clint Hall is the premiere Merc for Hire. With extensive military training first as a marine and then a navy seal, Tripwire is a force to be reckoned with. He retired from the military when he discovered he could make much more money taking his skills and going in to business for himself and began auctioning his services out to the highest bidder. He came to North River City when he was hired by Lucky Luciano to take out the Stallions after Luciano had caught wind of his rep. Prior to his first encounter with Blaque Stallion and Kid Colt he had been watching them for the better part of a month. Mapping their routes and any patterns they took going through North River City on patrols or otherwise and waiting for the perfect time to strike. When he did the Stallions almost didn't make it out alive. Setting up caltrops, various tripwires and a force field trap rigged to collapse on them. Thinking the Stallions as good as dead he went to claim the money for his services from Luciano and when he arrived he found the Stallions there waiting for them. They had escaped from his trap and sped back to catch Luciano and Tripwire both conspiring together. This landed Luciano and Tripwire in jail but they both were soon freed due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Luciano then cancelled the contract and fired Tripwire. Tripwire was outraged becausenot only had he failed a mission and been thrown in jail he had also lost a contract. The first time this had happened in his career. The mission was now personal and Tripwire has made it his goal to send Blaque Stallion to the glue factory.

William Anderson had always been interested in marine biology and oceanography growing up. His mother had volumes and volumes of encyclopedias on the subject and her and William would read them together many times before she passed away. William was also an excellent swimmer and he used this talent to recieve a full scholarship to Virginia Tech majoring in Archaeology. His main project while in school was working on excavating the rumoured site of Atlantis and he travelled to the Mediterranean his sophomore year in college during the summer to study and work with a team of experts. The crew ended up spending the entire summer there and subsequently ended up finding nothing. But William was not about to let go of his dream so easily. So he made a decision to stay after the team had left. William would end up dropping out of college to permanently stay and hunt for the fabled lost city. His hobby had become an obsession and he was going to stop at nothing until he had figured out the location of Atlantis.

Finally one early morning while deep diving, William's scuba gear malfunctioned and he found himself running out of air fast. He knew he had to reach the surface as fast as he could so he started dropping the diving weights and swimming upward. But he suddenly found himself stuck and unable to reach the surface. Almost as if something was tugging at his thoughts. Instead of continuing to move upward he began to swim downward again. His legs pumped with fantastic strength until he found himself at the floor of the ocean. He had run out of air in his oxygen tank long ago but somehow he was breathing fine underwater. He still felt that invisible tug and he kept swimming until finally he came to an underground cavern. Going inside he found himself in a world that he thought he might never see. He saw massive buildings and people swimming around underwater just fine. There was no doubt in his mind. He had finally discovered Atlantis. He swam towards the people and all at once they stopped, looked at the stranger and then dropped to their knees.

It turns out William was a long lost descendent of Atlantis and that his knack for swimming and his ability to breathe underwater was a product of this. In fact the reason William's mother had had so many volumes of encyclopedias about the ocean was that she knew she had made love with the former King of Atlantis and spawned William. The people explained to him the story of what had happened when he was younger and William was completely blown away by this development. He was now the Prince of Atlantis and had a whole kingdom at his beck and call.

The first thing he wanted however was revenge. Many many years ago in a secret war humans had sunk the empire of Atlantis. The people overtime through some unknown circumstances had somehow evolved to live underwater. So for centuries the people had been living underwater as outcast. William learned his real name of Tryton and took it as a name that would strike fear into the hearts of the people on the surface. He decided he would lead his people in an invasion of the surface world.

Tryton also discovered to his surprise that due to his overdeveloped lungs he possessed powerful sonic abilities. Sonic Powers that could demolish buildings with one scream. He also possessed a fair amount of super strength due to the time he had spent under the sea learning from his long lost people.

Tryton's first plan was to amass funds above ground in a bid to build his own empire in the surface world. And for awhile it worked. He would lead his people above ground and they would rob banks and then return to the ocean without a trace. However William saw no real opportunities in the mediterannean so he set out building colonies that would lead to North River City, his old stomping grounds. Once there he began robbing banks again using the same strategies. He did this for months until he ran into the third Blaque Stallion. Blaque had been watching out for quite sometime until he finally caught up with Tryton and his band. Tryton managed to escape to the water and Blaque went after them. But after being knocked silly by a powerful underwater sonic blast, Blaque had to retreat before he drowned.

Blaque returned with Hydro Gear developed by Rebecca Charles and finally managed to subdue Tryton. Tryton escaped however claiming that he was an Ambassador of Atlantis. Tryton now bides his time waiting for the chance to strike at the surface world again and building up his above ground business known as Triton Corp.

Metahuman Powers: Due to his father being Atlantean, Tryton possesses overdeveloped lungs that allow him to emit powerful sonic screams. His time spent underwater also has increased his strength and durability ten fold.
