2010 the year of the Stallion!

Guess who's back? After a 2 year hiatus to pursue other interests, Blaque is back in the saddle. I'm not making any promises (although I'm not sure if it matters since I don't think anyone is reading this haha) but I plan on at least finishing up what has been started on the website. I've been giving The Flash my attention for the last few years or so and I think it's about time that I got back to working on my own stuff for a bit. I pulled an all-nighter and went through and touched up and edited a lot of the character bios. I haven't finished them all, I still have a ways to go, but I'm hoping that by tomorrow or Monday evening I will have gone over the entire site and revised everything.

As I'm sure you all notice there are some characters bios still missing after two years and my first priority after getting this site back on track is to go through and take care of all of those missing entries. Some I honestly don't even remember the back story I had planned for but I'm going to work hard on thinking up something new for those.

Again I'm not making any promises but a dear old friend of mine, April Lambert inspired me to get back into working on this site again and maybe even work on my creative writing again. Yes you heard correctly. You maybe seeing some Blaque Stallion stories coming in the near future. Now I'm not sure who all will be reading it but that isn't what matters. What matters is that I'm back doing something that I love and I hope I find the time to really make this site something to be proud of again.

At least there aren't any broken links. Lol.

Yes it has been several long months since this website has seen anything new. But honestly it's been worth the wait. Because tonight I give you Blaque Stallion custom action figure part deux:

Yep the newest addition to my website and Blaque Stallion Museum is a one of a kind action figure put together by Kyle Robinson of KyleRobinsonCustoms.com. I contacted him about a month ago with an idea for an action figure that I had been kicking around in my head for a couple of months and he was more than happy to put this together for me.

Not only that but updating the page has lit a fire under my butt to finally get this thing some new content. Tons of half-completed profiles are hanging around, a bunch of unused character designs and wealth of random ideas are just begging to be completed and used. So I'm going to aim to at least add something new to the website every week. Whether it be a new character, finishing an existing character's profile or a random blog rant.

For all you that drop in every once in a while thank you, and for all those that don't normally, you can start now. HAHA.

Revamping and Overhauling

As of today I'm going to be revamping and overhauling the entire website. I know updates have been slow these past few months because plain and simple I've been dealing with a lot of crap in my personal life. Work and other crap makes me really tired and I rarely feel like jumping on City of Heroes and designing new characters or even writing biographies. (Funny how I write this as if someone will actually read this crap). Now the website is going to retain the overall look as I think it is striking enough to where it stands on it's own and fits with the overall theme (I really need to learn some web design though, templates are for the birds and I have so many ideas that can't be done with templates).

On the Agenda:

Condense all unnecessary clutter on the navigation bar. I.e. condensing all of the separate super group profiles onto one page and getting all of the information about the website and merchandise and such on one page as well.
Also going to work on adding a page to make it easier to access from mobile web. As of now a few of the links on the nav page are impossible to access. As they are cut off completely when viewing on mobile web. I know I first should get people caring about this site on the main web rather than worry about mobile stuff. But damn it I want to use my blackjack to surf my site.
Finish biography information and character designs for several characters that have been in the works for only G knows how long.
Get some contests or something going that breeds interaction. I love hearing suggestions from people but I rarely seem to get any real constructive criticism. I have a contest planned in the near future that will decide the design that I use for the newest entry into the Blaque Stallion's Universe though. Maybe get a suggestion box going or something like that.
My most ambitious aim would be to get every single entry for Allies and Rogues to have a page they go to rather than having them all being on the same page. Don't know how feasible this is with the current space I have on the website but we will see.

Speedsters are NOT broken!!!

    Most comic book fans and casual readers/viewers tend to view super speed as this amazing deus ex machina that can handle any and all threats easily and casually. And that the very idea of a speedster having trouble against any villain is preposterous.

    Well first off it depends on what speeds the speedster is moving at and what degree of durability that speedster has. Speedsters for the most part (excluding secondary speedsters like Superman, Power Girl, Captain Marvel etc) aren't invulnerable and can at times easily be caught off guard with an errant blast of energy, bright flashes of light, holograms that might fool them into going somewhere else or something they just don't see coming. They get caught in stuff, slip on stuff, and heck sometimes speedsters can't even hurt the opponents they face directly. Speedsters especially primary speedsters have it a lot tougher than people seem to realize.

    Of course this all boils down to one speedster in general. Numero Uno, the main man, the sultan of speed, the human whirlwind, The Fastest Man Alive, The Flash. In most reader's eyes he is the chief offender when it comes to overpowered and ridiculous feats. People love to believe that such things detract from the appeal of the character. Only thing is the people who believe that usually haven't picked up a Flash comic and actually read it in years or *gasp* ever. Flash's "overpowered feats" add a lot to the character IF you don't only focus on those feats. Flash doesn't do insanely over the top things all the time because it isn't really in his character to do so. He doesn't like to end fights in seconds because he likes to on occasion show off. True he has ended a fight like that before. He has gone in looking at an opponent as a minor annoyance and taken care of them swiftly. But should all heroes be like Spider-Man and have trouble taking on Stilt-Man and every other b, c, and d list villain they face? Flash is one of the major leaguers and he should act as such.

    And of course there are tougher opponents that take more than a simple thousand punch speed blitz to take out. And this is where people find a problem. How would someone who has advanced reflexes, and can move at the speed of light be affected by a guy named "Captain Cold" or the "Weather Wizard"? Sure the names are lame but damn think about it. Imagine yourself a normal person trying to run on ice or even walk on ice at normal speed? You either experience great difficulty in trying to get across it or you slip and bust your ass. Either way it's hard. Now imagine a guy running at twice the speed of sound trying to run on ice. Situation instantly exacerbated. No matter how fast one is going ice is always going to find a way to take your ass down. Weather Wizard is even better. Imagine trying to dodge lightning while also trying to avoid huge chunks of ice falling on you and several cyclones that have kicked up out of nowhere all at the same time? Fastest Man Alive or not you are going to have a fight on your hands.

    For the most part I just don't think we see enough speedsters utilized properly because writers don't know how to write one of the all-time classic archetypes and work around their powers and create limits. There is a reason that Mark Waid, Grant Morrison, and Geoff Johns all were able to tell great Flash stories even though he had ridiculous powers at times. They can handle the pressure, they have ideas and they know just how to use them. If writers would put forth an effort they would see it isn't that hard to use a speedster without having them overpower everyone off the bat.

    I hate barely seeing characters like Speed Demon, The Blur, Quicksilver, Speed etc get any good face time because of the inability of the writers to write a compelling story while still using speedsters effectively. Kid Flash operated in a team environment for years with the Teen Titans, as did The Flash with the Justice League and they still managed to make the books they were in interesting without being an instant win for their team making things any cheaper.

The title says it all. The Blaque Stallion is back and ready to roll. After a long absence with painfully sporadic updates I'm ready to get back on the ball and finish filling in all of the blank profiles that need backstories.

Keep in mind that I'm still reeling a little from the past 6 or so months but I'm trying my damndest to bounce back and bring this website the attention it deserves.

Special thanks to everyone that posted on my guest book. I appreciate your support. You really have NO idea how much it means to me that you would take the time to even glance at my rough website. The kind words give me fuzzy thoughts.

It's My Birthday!

Yep it's the Blaque Stallion's birthday. I know it's kind of weird to think of superheroes having birthdays and such but it happens. Not all of us are aliens from Krypton, or mysterious vigilantes. A lot of us are just regular guys living our lives the best way we know how whilst protecting the world from itself. To paraphrase a Five For Fighting song "It's not easy to be me". In any case on this my 22nd birthday I resolve to finally stop taking myself so damn seriously. That has to be my biggest problem. Everyone has problems but we don't have to let the problems rule us. Debt, no love life, crappy job, whatever. Let it roll off your back. Have fun! I'm going to try it and you should too.

On Vacation but Internet DOWN!

I can't believe there aren't more topics on the internet about why Comcast is the worst provider of anything on Earth. Cable, Internet the works. While I don't care much about cable (as I barely have time to watch anything these days) the internet is my baby. Everything I do revolves around the internet for the most part and whether this is a good thing remains to be seen.

Anyway I'm on my sort of vacation from work right now (they made me work Saturday and Sunday in my first week because some spoiled chick wanted the weekend off for her birthday even though I asked for it off a month in advance) and I planned on doing several things. Learning how to drive (yes I'm almost 22 and don't know how to drive, pathetic I know), working on my website (my baby), and getting my finances and everything in order. Well the crappy weather this week curtailed my driving lessons for the most part, and my crappy internet provider (I'm looking at you comcast) put a monkey wrench in working on my website. The finances are a whole nother story.

In any case hopefully my internet woes will be cured by the time wednesday or thursday rolls around so I can do some heavy duty updates. I have been working offline to continue fleshing out the rogues gallery of the first Blaque Stallion, Curtis Powell and the second, Ron Jackson in an attempt to add some more flavor to the villains. And I do plan to someday finish up the supporting cast of the modern day Stallion, Devon Johnson and move on to the others but something always keeps coming up. I've been going through a rough spot these last few months with my live in ex-girlfriend, a possible love interest that fizzled out and several other things that make me want to shout. Hopefully April will be a better month. *Crosses Fingers*

Alright now this site has been up since Sept and I'm just now getting to an update. In any case this is a list of stuff that I plan on doing to the website in the next few weeks/months.

Spellchecking every entry and continue proofreading for grammatical errors.
Flesh out the Rogues Gallery and the Allies...I still have a ton more ideas that have yet to see the light of day for characters.
Fix Paul's messed up picture. Sorry bro I'm trying to do you justice and it isn't working out haha.
Fill in missing profiles in the Allies section and the Rogues section. There are a few that have not been filled in for quite some time.
Work on adding more memorabilia to the memorabilia section. Special thanks to Donny Z and Fugayzie for hooking me up with some great stuff.
Work out continuity errors and flesh out Teen Dynamite entry.
Get an actual timeline going (part of the continuity errors)
