Aegis

Real Name: Arthur "Art" Donner
Other Aliases:
Occupation: Government Agent, Former Air Force Pilot
Legal Status: U.S. Citizen/Operative with no criminal history

First Appearance: Aegis #1

Art Donner joined the Air Force immediately after graduating high school. Eager to escape his abusive father and drug addicted mother he saw the Air Force as a perfect way to get away from it and advance in life. Art graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with honors with an advanced degree in aerospace engineering and promptly joined the Air Force. Flying out in his first mission during the Gulf War, he quickly grew to be respected as one of the best pilots/engineers the USAF had to offer. This led to him being recruited over the next fifteen years in some of the more covert missions available. Unfortunately his service and dedication to his country allowed him little time to develop any lasting relationships outside of the Air Force. This would later work to his advantage.

Two years ago Art was asked to be the lead engineer and pilot on an experimental battle suit that was supposed to be the first of many that would end up revolutionizing aerial combat and national defense. The project was called Aegis as it was created for the most part to be a defense against the growing super human population. A year after the project began development a working prototype was available. A year after extensive field testing and training Art Donner became Aegis. The very first completely (publicly) government built and sponsored super hero. As mentioned earlier the Aegis armor was to be the first of many suits designed for aerial defense and combat but the suit simply proved to be far too expensive to duplicate. Even regular maintenance, system support specialists and repairs cost a pretty penny and while it would be a great advantage to have a fleet of Aegis armors, Art Donner appears to be doing just fine protecting the country's interest on his own.

Black-Ice was one of the first heroes to arrive to Paragon City when the Tarox invaded. During a battle with the Tarox, Black-Ice was gravely injured and was on the verge of dying. In a last ditch effort to save his life he summoned up all of his ice powers and put himself into suspended animation in an attempt to heal himself. Many months later Black-Ice awoke from his frozen state to discover that his super group the Shadow Protectorate had disbanded, and that although the Tarox invasion had been pushed back due the efforts of Blaque Stallion II, Premiere Justice and countless other heroes they still ran wild among the streets of North River. Not only that but new villains from the Rogue Isles appear to be popping up every day. To this end Black-Ice has begun reforming The Shadow Protectorate, recruiting and teaching heroes like Zero Effect and other young heroes, and working once again to makes the streets of Paragon City safe once again. As people would say in the winter time,  "WATCH OUT FOR THE BLACK-ICE"!!! Recently Black-Ice has joined up with the team of heroes known as Premiere Justice.

Chalk-Outline

Real Name: Unknown
Other Aliases: Chalk
Occupation: Vigilante
Legal Status: U.S. Citizen with warrant out for arrest
Place of Birth: Unknown
Base of Operations: North River City, Virginia
Marital Status: Unknown
Height: 6'
Weight: 210 lbs
Build: Athletic
Eyes: Unknown   Hair: Unknown
Known Relatives: None
First Appearance: Chalk-Outline #1 (of 4)

Virtually nothing is known about the mysterious vigilante who names is a reference to the chalk outlines that police draw around the deceased. Some say he's a ghost, others say he was once a police officer who specialized in Forensics. And still others say he was someone who worked in the Coroner's office who then faked his death to strike at criminals without fear of reprisal. These theories are all supported by the vigilante's ability to investigate crime scenes and spot evidence the police always miss. Chalk focuses exclusively on murders of innocent victims and then avenges those victims in the exact same way they were killed. When possible, he will "borrow" the actual murder weapons from police evidence lockers. His costume black with a chalk white stripe all around his body, symbolizes his belief that he embodies slain victims so they can avenge themselves beyond the grave. Chalk-Outline has never displayed any super powers. Because of this many believe he is a normal human with some training and background in the military. Although normally a private loner he has recently joined up the the super group known as Premiere Justice after the team helped fight off an alien invasion. Whether he will stay with the team is another question though.

Metahuman Powers:  Believed to possess none.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: Skill that rivals the top experts in forensics and a mastery of several forms of armed and unarmed combat.

Special Limitations: Apparent lack of super human abilities could be seen as an advantage or a disadvantage.

Notable Equipment: At any given time Chalk carries a number of weapons and utilities on his person to keep him prepared for almost any situation. His main weapon is an extremely versatile assault rifle rigged to be used in a variety of ways. In one weapon he has a sniper rifle, flamethrower, grenade launcher, machine gun, shotgun and even bean bags for non-lethal situations. On his belt and in the pouches on his uniform he carries the following: Lock picks, grappling gun, a forensics kit, hand cuffs, a medical kit, surveillance equipment, web grenades, a taser, smoke grenades, flash-bang grenades, trip-mines, bombs, caltrops, and a rebreather. The suit itself is constructed with a combination of kevlar body armor and an unknown substance. In his mask he has goggles that can switch from infrared to night vision. How he can afford all of this is a mystery. Sources believe that it is all stolen and other sources point to him being a billionaire playboy with a lot of time on his hands.

Mike was one of the core four members of Teen Dynamite but when the team fell apart he was left with pretty much nothing to do. He did some solo work for a time but it never felt the same. He would then get the old group back together with a few new members and reform as Team Dynamite. When the team was asked by an intergalactic race known as the Trion to help free their planet from the Tarox and neither Devon nor Shawn could answer the call, Mike and Dederick took their team into outer space and helped fight back the invasion. Shaun was the leader of Teen Dynamite when it was still active and he and his brother Mike both discovered that they had extraordinary abilities when they were younger. Shaun had the ability to generate and manipulate electricity and he and his brother, Mike (formerly Blizzkid now known as Cold Fusion) began fighting crime shortly before they ran into Devon (when he was Kid Colt) and his younger brother, Dederick (formerly Spectrum now known as Target). They were quite the formidable team and they kept their neighborhood in North River City safe before Devon and his brother arrived. While members of Teen Dynamite, Shaun, Mike, Devon and Dederick all became heavily involved in church activities. Shawn was and remains the most dedicated and after the dissolution of Teen Dynamite he became a missionary travelling all over the globe helping to spread the word of Christ and protecting his fellow missionaries from unsavory individuals who would have them destroyed. Shaun will not hesistate to come to the aid of his friends and family in Teen Dynamite and even returned for a while when the team reformed under the banner of Team Dynamite and added new members. Currently Shaun has shifted gears and is working in the music business.

Base of Operations: Paragon City, Rhode Island
Marital Status: Single
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: undisclosed
Build: Athletic

Before becoming the mystic hero known as Flaming Grace, Grace was a regular college student dabbling in the mystic arts as a hobby. One night while at an occult gathering in the Paragon Museum of Supernatural History, Grace got separated from the rest of the students. She came across a magic talisman called the Firebrand rumored  to have been used by the hero of the same name back in the 40s. When Firebrand was killed in action, her body disappeared leaving behind only the talisman in it's place. The object was put on display as a testament to Firebrand's bravery and mystical prowess. Grace felt herself drawn to the object and as a result removed the powerful object from it's casing. She then found herself transformed beyond her wildest dreams. She now fights in Paragon City hoping to rid it of the Circle of Thorns and others who would abuse the mystical arts. Recently after teaming up with several other heroes to thwart an alien invasion, the heroes decided they could do a lot of good as a team and became Premiere Justice.

Metahuman Powers: Due to the Firebrand, Grace can manipulate and generate flame of various intensities. In fact because of the mystical nature of her powers her flame is much more potent than normal fire. Future Stallion

Real Name: Dax Johnson
Other Aliases: Blaque Stallion
Occupation: Adventurer and protector of North River City in the 25th century.
Legal Status: U.N.E (Unified Nations of Earth) Citizen with no criminal record
Place of Birth: 25th Century North River City, VA
Base of Operations: 25th Century North River City, VA
Marital Status: Single
Height: 6'
Weight: 185 lbs
Build: Athletic
Eyes: Brown   Hair: Black
Known Relatives: Devon Johnson (Great Great Great Great Grandfather, see subfile: Blaque Stallion III)
First Appearance: Blaque to the Future #1 (of 4)

Dax Johnson is one of the only members of the Johnson Bloodline to not naturally recieve super speed abilities. Even though he was the most dedicated to the legacy of the Blaque Stallion (his brother and sister had powers but chose not to use them to carry the tradition) he was always treated as the black sheep of the family. Not being able to follow in the Blaque Stallion Legacy, Dax decided instead to become a police officer on the North River City Police force. But even though he was protecting people he always felt that void in his life that he was positive speed would fill. To that end he began studying day and night trying to figure out just how his brothers and sisters recieved the power and he didn't. He spent all the time he could also scouring through his great great great great grandfather's notes and theories about their powers (most of which Devon inherited from Ron Jackson, the second Blaque Stallion when he passed on). Looking through them Dax came across the blue prints of a special suit of speed armor that Devon had built for himself in case he ever found himself robbed of his speed abilities.

Desperate to know more information about the construction of the suit and it's usage Dax headed to Omega Corp to speak to his good friend Melna about the blue prints. Melna had helped Dax's father on his missions when he was the Blaque Stallion and became good friends with Dax and his brother and sister. Melna knew about Dax's desire to follow in the legacy of the Stallions and sympathized with his plight. Melna agreed to help Dax rebuild the suit.

A few weeks later the sorcerer known as Coldfire arrived in the 25th Century trying to escape from Blaque Stallion III who was following him across the space/time continuum. After a pitched battle Blaque Stallion was knocked unconcious by the powerful sorcerer. That was when Dax's father Daxcious donned his suit and sped into action. Daxcious however had been retired for a few years and as a result he too was beaten soundly. Dax knew he had to do something. So he donned the armor and one of his father's spare suits in an attempt to see if he might be able to gain super speed and take down Coldfire.

Coldfire was moving in for the killing blow on Dax's father when Dax yelled at Coldfire to stop and face him. Coldfire was happy to oblige and fired off a volley of coldfire energy bursts, Dax went to evade them and he moved at normal speed. The suit had not given him super speed and now he was a sitting duck waiting to be roasted. Just as the blasts were about to hit Dax, Blaque Stallion moved him out of the way just in time. Blaque now recovered went back into battle with Coldfire hoping to prevent him from destroying this North River City and send him back to his time. When Dax got up he felt an electrical charge. His synapses started moving at a spectacular rate. Somehow contact with Blaque Stallion had jump started the armor and gave him the power of super speed.

Dax then headed into battle to help Blaque Stallion just as his father was recovering. The three heroes managed to subdue Coldfire and send him back to the 21st Century.

Dax now had the power of his birthright and he had helped his father and his great great great great grandfather take down Coldfire. This was his baptism of fire. Daxcious now proudly handed over the mantle of the Stallion over to Dax who had proved himself.

Dax still works for the NRPD but he also defends 25th Century North River as The Blaque Stallion as well.

Metahuman Powers:
The kinetic speed energy that tainted Dax's body covered him in a kinetic energy speed field that allows him to move with the swiftness of lightning, enhances his reflexes a thousand fold, and even lets him alter his perception of time. Dax can also move so fast that he can cheat gravity, hit an enemy a thousand times before they can blink and also propel himself through the air for a short amount of time. Dax can also use this field to enhance his resistance to mind control, telepathy, and things like force fields, extreme heat and cold that would stop a normal person well, cold. The field can also be expanded to protect whomever he may be carrying at the time. Over time with continued use of this ability Dax's body has adapted to the rigors of super speed travel as well giving him more efficient respiratory and cardiovascular systems, enhanced strength, stamina, agility and reflexes. If his speed field fails his body is still able to withstand friction and the stresses of high speed travel. Unfortunately that does not include his passengers.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: Dax is a dedicated student of the Blaque Stallion Legacy and is also skilled in law enforcement and self defense techniques that won't be developed for hundreds of years.

Special Limitations: Due to the nature of their powers speedsters generally lack patience. Something that usually sends them careening into battle before a proper plan or strategy can be formulated. They also generally lack any real vertical movement or long range weapons and are at a disadvantage when facing off against fliers. Objects on the ground such as caltrops, spikes, quick sand, etc can also impede their manueverability. Also the Stallions rely on speed and avoiding attacks rather than plowing through them with invulnerability and super strength so if they get hit it is usually hard although their speed

Notable Equipment: The main tool that Dax uses to fight crime is his high velocity super suit. Dax can move at just below the speed of sound without damaging his clothing in any way due to the kinetic aura that surrounds his body. But any faster and his clothes will fall apart. Because of this he uses a suit based on the ideas of Ron Jackson and constructed by Melna that can stand up to the high velocities that he regularly reaches. Heat Reflexive and Heat Radiant as well as aerodynamically sound, in every way the suit is a work of art. Built into the cowl is a visor to protect his eyes from the shifting of light as he nears light speed, as well as infrared heat sensors, and night vision to allow him to navigate dark areas without killing himself. A police band is also built in as well as a comm device. The gauntlets on the side double as shields and panels that pull in kinetic speed energy for storage.

Hypernova 00

Real Name: Jason Wade
Other Aliases: Hype, Hyper, Nova
Occupation: High School Student
Legal Status: U.S. Citizen with no criminal record
Place of Birth: Paragon City, Rhode Island
Base of Operations: Paragon City, Rhode Island
Marital Status: Single
Height: 6'
Weight: 178 lbs.
Build: Athletic
Eyes: Brown  Hair: Black
Known Relatives: Samuel Wade (father), Theresa Wade (mother), John Wade (older brother)
First Appearance: Hypernova 00 Limited Series #1 of 5 (May, 2006)

Jason Wade recieved his powers months ago when his school was invaded by Dr. Vahzilok and his zombie hordes. Jason took a crossbow arrow trying to save his one true love's life and died. But at the exact moment Yaseph Tora, Hypernova Squadron Leader pursued by the evil Tarox after they mercilessly destroyed his homeworld of Kheldoran, sent his power, awareness and abilities into Jason before he himself perished. Unfortunately his essence was somehow crosswired and Tora died inside of Jason's mind after mending his broken body. Although Jason was revived he was sent into a deep coma. Jay finally awakened weeks later when the Tarox were attacking the Earth trying to find the new champion Tora had appointed. Jason's hospital gown changed into a strange uniform and Yaseph's fading battle experience sent Jay into action as he took the fight to the Tarox full on and sent them running with their tails between ther legs. He now possesses the uniform, abilities and high rank of the Kheldoran Squadron of Hypernova's, 00. He uses them as the Protector of the Earth and as a member of Premiere Justice

Metahuman Powers: Due to melding with the deceased Kheldoranian, Yaseph Tora, Jason has a number of abilities at his disposal. He now possesses amazing strength, flight, speed and above average durability as well as the ability to expel and shape solid light. He can also shape the light into shields of varying durability. Hypernova 00 like all other Hypernova squadron members and Kheldoranians for that matter travels on the electrons in the air making him much faster than other fliers. This is also a natural ability for them so they are much more adept at it than anyone else. By transforming into pure light he has the ability to fly at even faster speeds then before, and fire off amazingly powerful beams of solid light that eclipse the power of his human form. He also has the ability to shape solid light around himself and create battle armor that is extremely durable, unfortunately due to the great amount of concentration and energy needed he cannot fly. He still is extremely dangerous as he has a greater amount of durability, resistance to psionics and the ability to teleport, heal himself and still attack but not with the same strength or regularity as his light energy form and human form.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: Besides his obvious Kheldoranian abilities, Jason is naturally adept at computer sciences but due to this being his estranged father's field he has purposely allowed his skills to lapse. Beyond that he possesses an large amount of knowledge of the heroes operating in Paragon. Especially the younger and street level ones.

Special Limitations: Jason's Kheldoranian forms have different levels of defense, attack speeds and damage. While his pure energy form is extremely proficient when it comes to damage, maneuverability, and speed it suffers from a complete and total lack of defense. And while his solid light shield form can hold up to the best of attacks it is extremely slow, lacks maneuverability (except when teleporting), and cannot fly. Other than that subject appears to be a classic underachiever. He lacks any real motivation beyond crime fighting and that could be a problem for him in the future.

Notable Equipment: Kheldoran Hypernova Squadron standard issue uniform. Made of unidentified materials that are highly resistant to damage, including outer space and conforms to whatever shape the user might take. The costume is also airtight. The helmet contains advanced circuitry which enables Hypernova 00 to monitor radio transmissions, and allows him the use of telescopic sights, night vision sensors, and heat imaging sensors. The helmet also includes a malleable Kheldoran alloy which can be lowered to cover the face by cybernetic command making it airtight; the helmet is connected to an oxygen supply concealed within the uniform which can last up to 8 hours. The helmet can also record and store audio files which can be accessed later by the helmet's wearer. If the helmet is taken off or knocked off Jason can access all features using his costume's gauntlets. The uniform has a stealth/camouflage capability which allows Jason to change its appearance cybernetically as well as a healing function which can be used to heal damage done to Jason's body. Jason can transform into his Hypernova Squadron uniform at will.

James Mace

Losing his mother and girlfriend to gang violence, Mason James volunteered for a top secret Omega Corp super soldier project in order to take on the superhuman Freakshow, killers of the only family he had ever known. Already an accomplished street fighter nicknamed "The Mace" because of his hard hitting fists, Omega Corp saw an incredible opportunity to draft a potential operative. As part of the agreement Mason agreed to do work for Omega as a super soldier in exchange for the power to get revenge on the Freaks. After tracking down and bringing the leader of the vermin that killed his family to justice he worked for Omega for a while until they ordered him to kill the current Blaque Stallion, Devon Johnson. James Mace almost succeeded as his spectacular strength and durability proved a great foil for our ebon-clad hero. But eventually the ebon-clad speedster triumped over Mason and Mason told him the reason why he had attacked him. To that end Devon and Mason devised a plan and they faked Mason's death in combat with Blaque. Then using the resources of White Dynasty, they set him up with a new identity as James Mace. James then completely free of his contractural obligations and given a new lease on life decided to help others by opening up a Private Detective firm in downtown North River City. James still helps out The Stallions from time to time but more or less devotes himself to his Private Detective Agency.

Metahuman Powers: Due to Omega Corp Super Solder Experiments, James is now extremely durable and possesses impressive strength.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: Even without his new powers James is a damn good street fighter having won many an underground competition.

Special Limitations: His great strength and durability have been turned against him many a time more notably when Blaque Stallion (Devin) tricked him into bringing an abandoned building down on himself.

First Appearance:
Blaque Stallion v3 #42

Professor Lindsay Powers always had a problem with people taking her seriously. When she told her parents she wanted to be a physicist they asked why she couldn't be something more womanly like a flight attendant or a school teacher. When her fiance discovered that she was up for a position as head of the science department at North River University her fiance thought it was a joke. And while her director put her up as  a candidate for the position he knew that she hadn't a chance and she knew this. Frustrated she left the school and began doing work with the government working on top secret projects. There she invented a device that allowed people to shrink down to a subatomic size. Unfortunately her invention was ridiculed and seen as an embarrassment  to the project. From there she was fired and with that final insult she knew that she had to prove her not only to everyone else but to her self. So she built herself a uniform that would stand out as a super heroine and that would shrink with her, using microtechnology she turned the subatomic device into a much smaller belt and then she set out to fight crime. She has enjoyed moderate success as a crime fighter and has teamed up with Blaque Stallion on more than one occasion. Recently she joined, the world's newest super team, Premiere Justice.

Metahuman Powers: Ability to shrink to subatomic size using special belt.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: Great scientific mind

Special Limitations: Lindsay's heart is not really into being a hero. The whole reason she donned the tights was to prove that she could do it, but noticing more competent heroes and not really having the desire to be a hero in the first place has limited her accomplishments.

Notable Equipment: Special belt that allows her to shrink down to subatomic size and special costume that shrinks with her. Also special gauntlets known as Laser Pointers which allowed her to fire off laser beams of varying force and pressure.

Rush Hour

Real Name: Luke Howlett
Other Aliases: None
Occupation: Government Agent
Legal Status: Deceased
Place of Birth: Classified
Base of Operations: Mobile
Marital Status: Classified
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 225 lbs
Build: Athletic
Eyes: Brown   Hair: Black with grey streaks (by product of speed pill)
Known Relatives: Classified
First Appearance: Blaque Stallion v2 #42

Rush Hour is the final result of the government's many many attempts to create a super speed super soldier for use for covert stealth operations. Scott Whedon developed a pill using DNA taken from the Blaque Stallion when he was briefly a government agent that would endow whoever ingested it with super speed for approximately an hour. That would give the agent sufficient time to get in and get out while the speed pill worked it's way through the agent's system. If the agent were to ever be captured the drug would have left the agent's system before enemies would have a chance to study it. Out of six possible candidates Luke Howlett was chosen for the job. Luke possessed not only the perfect genetic make up for compatibility but he also had to pass extensive psychological testing. Although they originally intended for Luke to be an agent for the government doing stealth missions they saw better potential for him as a member of the first iteration of Premiere Justice. When all of the original team except Pinpoint and him were murdered in an alien invasion they found a group of new heroes to help combat the aliens. Unfortunately Rush Hour perished in the very first mission.

Metahuman Powers: By ingesting the speed pill, Luke gained the ability to move at just above the speed of sound for approximately an hour. Any longer and his speed slowly starts to wane for thirty seconds before disappearing.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: Luke had years of experience as a government agent prior to becoming Rush Hour.

Special Limitations: The hour long time limit proved at times to be a foil for Rush Hour, sometimes losing power just when he needed it the most. While another pill could reinvigorate him it takes a few seconds for the speed to take hold, seconds that he won't always have especially when facing another speedster.

Notable Equipment: Luke's suit is based on designs borrowed from Ron Jackson's designs. The mechanism on his chest measures how long he has before his speed runs out.

He was simply content to live an ordinary teenager's life devoid of super heroics. That all changed when at 15 his father against his wishes enrolled him at the Paragon Academy for Gifted Youngsters. While initially a complete slacker, this all changed when he was assigned to do a project on one famous hero from the silver age. Deciding to research his father he was appalled to see that the library and computer database had hardly any info on his father whatsoever. Outraged Chuck began to take his studies deadly serious and even started moonlighting as the lightning wielding, Sparx Jackson (a clever spin on his father's old alter ego, Sparkplug Jackson). Determined to carry on the proud tradition and educate the world on his father's and other black superheroes' amazing accomplishments, he fights the good fight determined to spread the message.

Dederick Johnson is the younger brother of Devon Johnson, The Blaque Stallion. Dederick recieved his powers as part of his estranged father's plot to use him as a weapon against his brother. His father kidnapped him and awakened his latent mutant ability to manipulate light. He then brainwashed him and sent him out to destroy his brother (at the time known as Kid Colt and still keeping his identity from his family). When Spectrum attacked Kid Colt he garnered the attention of two other young fledgling heroes, Shawn and Mike Daknis, known in the superhero world as Electrostatic Man and Blizzkid. After a lengthy battle Devon and his new allies managed to free Dederick from his mind control and after going after their father the team decided to stay together and work to help clean up the streets of North River City. After a while however the team started drift apart. Devon would start working more and more with Ron Jackson, Shawn would start spending more time at church and Mike became involved in other things and Dederick started pursuing his real passion basketball. Unfortunately no matter how good he was Dederick didn't really have a fair chance to make it to college on a basketball scholarship so he started studying to be a teacher. On occasion, Dederick and Mike would still team up to take down villains. Eventually Mike would change his name to Cold Fusion and Dederick after a shift in his power levels and the way he did things began to call himself Target.

The artificial boost that his father gave his powers years ago was beginning to wear off and Dederick had to start using special weapons designed by Rebecca Charles to channel his light powers through. Due to his new modus operandi he began referring to himself as Target, but pretty much right after he started using the weapons he retired to study full time. Later on Dederick also found another negative outcome to his father's screwing with him early on. The brainwashing had done something to his brain causing him to have seizures whenever he exerted himself and was extremely tired.

A few years later Dederick came out of retirement to reform Team Dynamite with the original core four of Teen Dynamite and several other younger heroes needing experience. But when a distress call from a planet was sent to them and Blaque Stallion and Electrostatic Man could not heed the call, Cold Fusion and Dederick took the team into space and helped the planet free themselves. They were impressed with how well they handled the threat and with that they resolved to travel the galaxy and help planets that could not help themselves as the starfaring Battlejammers.

Metahuman Powers: Ability to generate and control light. This power was boosted and altered artifically early on. Now he has to use special weapons to channel his powers.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: Excellent basketball player. True student of the game with tons of knowledge of the game and the greats.

Special Limitations: Seizures caused by brainwashing early on by father.

Notable Equipment: Special weapons that focus his light powers.

Nigel dreamed of being a hero and always hoped that one day he would get super powers and fight crime alongside his favorite heroes. A month after his 13th birthyday he got his wish. One afternoon at a pool party for his best friend Tommy, he and some friends were out at the pool when some high school kids got in. They had snuck in under the noses of the chaperones and started ragging on Nigel and his friends. Nigel and his pals attempted to get out of the pool and walk away but one of the older kids pulled him back in and began dunking him. Nigel panicked and at that moment his mutant power of cryokinesis manifested. He froze the entire pool with about 30 kids in it including Tommy. By the times the authorities arrived Nigel had appeared to be the only "survivor" (his best friend Tommy also survived and returned to try and destroy Nigel later). Nigel later on realized that he was the cause of the freak freezing accident and guilt-ridden turned himself in. At the mercy of the towns people and facing certain death, his savior arrived in the form of a mysterious man in black aptly named Black-Ice. He created a giant ice wall and spirited Nigel to his secret headquarters. There he trained Nigel in his mutant abilities and taught him to overcome his guilt and work towards his goal of being a hero again. Now Nigel operates as the hero, Zero Effect and fights to make Paragon a better place.
